Apocalypse Now
It was interesting how the movie "Apocalypse Now" was made from the novel "Heart of Darkness". As I watched the movie I saw everything that was in the story of "Heart of Darkness". The only difference from the book to the movie was the ending of the story in the book and that the movie was set in Vietnam. Watching the movie brought the book to life for me. It gave me a broader picture of all that was going on in the book. Did it help all of you get a better picture of the story in the book?

I somewhat agree with you but it was only because I focused a lot on Apocalypse Now in a military perspective. I think it would of helped me more watching something more like the African rather than the Asian setting and that kind of thing. Though, it helped me too visualize somethings in the book that I didn't quite understand when reading it. :)
Of course there were some obvious simularities between the movie and the book, however there were some major differences also. On major one is the fact that Kurtz dies of disease in the book and is murdered in the movie. Also the purpose for Kurtz being there as far military purposes and ivory. what do you think?
Yahoo, I agree with you on the differences. After watching the movie and discussing the book in class, I would have never seen the broader picture. As we pieced it together in class, it gave me a whole new way of looking at movies and stories.
