Work cited

After class I was still a little confused about the work sited exercise. In the exercise when we did the work sited for the poem. Why was it not correct to put the title of the poem as a subtitle?

It's not a subtitle. A subtitle is not the title of a smaller piece of the overall written work. The title of a single poem typically is. So it looks like this:

Lastname, Firstname. "Poem". Book Trans. Translator. Ed. Editor. City: Publisher, YYYY.

The YYYY means the year published.
