DEBATE NEXT WEEK/ GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
I AM SO GLAD WERE ALMOST DONE WITH THIS DEBATE. I AM NERVOUS BUT YET I AM EAGER TO GET IT DONE WITH. WE AS A CLASS IN WHAT EVER SUBJECT WE CHOSE TO BE A PART OF WILL BE TOUCHING ON A NERVE WITH EACHOTHER. WE WILL BE STRONG TO PRESENT OUR POINT AND YET QUICK TO DEFEND OUR POINT. WE NEED TO REMEMBER THIS IS JUST A CLASS AND OUR OPINION IS JUST THAT "OUR OPINION" I NEED TO APOLOGISE NOW IF I AFFEND ANY ONE OR STEP ON ANY ONES TOES. THIS IS A CLASS I NEED TO PASS AND I WILL DO WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO A DEGREE. I HOPE WE ALL FEEL THE SAME AND NOT INTENTIALLY DEMEAN ANY ONE OR MAKE THEM FEEL BAD FOR HAVING A OPINION OR BELIEFE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND MAY WE ALL PASS..........

I got so happy ,when i read your post. I think like you and i bleive it.
You couldn't have said it better. I hope no one gets offended because that is not my or our intention. Our main goal is to educate each other and to get a better understanding of why we feel the way we do on the topic. Good luck everyone!
I AGREE ALSO. OUR TEAM WILL E DEFENDING OUR POINT OF VIEW BASED ON THE RESEARCH WE HAVE FOUND. WE ARE NOT OUT TO ATTACK ANYONE....JUST AS THE REST OF YOU, WE ARE DOING THIS SIMPLY FOR THE GRADE!
These all sound like good, collegial attitudes.
People often do get excited during debate, but remember that the grade has to do with the logical presentation of argument. Attacking a person instead of the person's idea is not only socially damaging, it is a logical fallacy as well: even if the attack were correct, it would not relate to the point under discussion. Here's an example:
"You say that marijuana hurts my studies, Dad, but you sure do seem to like your whisky sours."
See how this works: even if this student's father is an alcoholic, and even if his alcohol problem is far, far worse than his child's drug use, that has nothing to do with any relation that smoking marijuana may have with the student's studies.
You guys may have had some sharp words, but you sound like you'll do fine.
